Have you seen Jigong Mountain Villa? That's the beauty of my heart. Her magnificent, suffering, magical story, touched the hearts of countless people.
When you come to Jigong Mountain, one of the four major summer resorts in China, Jigong Mountain sigh for the strange mountains and waters here, and the towering Xiaofeng, you need to stop your steps and look back at those pavilions hidden in the forest. You look into the eyes of the houses and buildings of those exotic beautiful women, and there is a feeling of being touched by the soul.
The hundreds of miraculous villas, built in the early 20th century, originated from an expedition by the American missionary Li Lisheng in 1902. His discerning eye discovered the little-known cool world of Jigong Mountain, which was then widely publicized in the western press. For a moment, white skin, black skin, yellow skin. Blue eyes, black eyes, yellow eyes. Different ethnic groups copied different languages and came one after another under Li Lisheng's leadership. They excavated the forest and built houses on Jigong Mountain. Houses of different styles, churches, clubs, schools, hospitals, banks and post offices have been carefully built, and long mountain roads and unique pavilions have been built. They created a mountain city, a world of crossbows, the life they wanted, the legendary hideaway. Like can not wait, since 1903, mushroomed, the American building, the German building, the Swedish building, the Japanese building... More than 500 buildings from 23 countries have been erected. At its peak in 1935, more than 3,000 missionaries, comprador, warlords and gentry from all over the world settled on the mountain.
I think that at the beginning, whether it was encroachment, slight seizure, or compliance, they must be out of love for Xinyang and Jigong Mountain. Based on love. If the degree of love rises to greed and madness, it becomes sin.
We come here because we love her.
There is an old photo that is very precious, reflecting the story of Yilu.
The building was built between 1921 and 1923 by Jin Yune, commander of the 14th Division of the Beiyang warlord Wu Peifu. When Jin Yune came to Jigong Mountain for summer and recuperation, he saw row upon row of foreign houses and villas, and foreigners were very arrogant and indignant. He made up his mind to build the Chinese people's own villa on Jigong Mountain. He repeatedly negotiated with the relevant personnel, were refused, only forced to break ground by force, and made the craftsmen dig their hearts out, unique, and named the villa Yilu. After the building was completed, as expected, Yilu is magnificent, square and dignified, reflecting the traditional Chinese architectural style and aesthetic concept, and stands out among many pavilions, with its momentum over the buildings of other countries on the mountain.
When Yilu was completed in July 1925, Beijing and other warlords sent congratulatory messages. The Wuhan military specially organized a delegation to congratulate Jin Yune and praised him for growing ambition for the people of China, calling Yilu "ambition building". An American pastor named Randal, who attended the completion ceremony, has a collection of photos taken at that time. More than half a century later, his grandson, Mr. Haaland C. carlyle, presented this photo to the Jigong Mountain Management District.
Time is frozen in the photo. Yilu is like the famous Titanic, carrying a ship full of guests, driving in the old days. The guests of that day should be some successful people, wearing long gowns and jackets, or suits and shoes, one by one swaggering and proud, still gathered on the broad balcony of the Yilu, protecting the marble railings, looking out of the building.
